The Wolcott police stated that a motorcycle and a car collided on Lower County Road on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the death of Dean Fradiani of Wallingford, who was 39 years old.

The authorities closed the road to conduct an investigation, but they later reopened it at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Nick Fradiani took to social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to share that Dean Fradiani was his cousin.

He expressed his grief on Facebook, stating that he didn’t want to acknowledge the reality of the situation.

The singer fondly remembered his childhood experiences with Dean at their grandmother’s home and respectfully referred to him as “Baby Dean,” despite his significant size and impressive strength.

As of Monday afternoon, the Wolcott Police Chief, Edward L. Stephens, confirmed that the investigation into the motorcycle crash was still ongoing.

In December 2022, Nick Fradiani marked his debut on Broadway

Fradiani had been experiencing a newfound level of success before his cousin’s death. 

Over the past few months, Fradiani made his Broadway debut and released new music after several years.

Fradiani was a big fan of Neil Diamond and grew up listening to his music. He was cast as Diamond’s alternate in the Broadway hit “A Beautiful Noise” in December 2022 and plays the role every Wednesday.

Fradiani had no experience in musical theater before landing a role in “A Bronx Tale” in 2019. He met his girlfriend on tour and became obsessed with musical theater during the early months of the COVID pandemic. 

Fradiani was thrilled to land a role on Broadway and felt it was a huge moment for his career. 

Although Fradiani’s journey since “Idol” has had its ups and downs, he is still grateful for the experience and blessed to be doing what he loves. 

Fradiani released his second solo album since “Idol” called “Past My Past” in November 2022.

It is uncertain if Fradiani will miss any performances in “A Beautiful Noise” due to his cousin’s death. Funeral arrangements have not been announced yet by the family.
