Fast rising Boston based Country singer/songwriter Chris Moreno is ready to take the genre by storm with the release of his stunning new single ‘Before You’.
Here we chat exclusively to Chris Moreno to discuss his latest offering, touring, writing process and more:
How excited are you to be sharing your new single?
I’m very excited! It’s been almost 9 months since I’ve put out new music and I think this is the perfect track to re-introduce myself with.
How would you describe the overall vibe of the track to new listeners?
The track has a very modern and fresh feel as far as production goes, and it’s also pretty up tempo. It’s got a little bit of rock edge that I like to maintain throughout most of my songs, but it also has r&b style melodies in certain parts which is different for me and I think the tracks shows growth from my previous work.
What was the writing process like for the song?
“Before You” was co-written with Jake Flaherty and Ty March who are a couple of great writers here in Nashville. It was the first time we had all written together and we started with the title “before you” in mind first, and then set out to craft the song around that idea. I immediately could relate to the concept of finding someone who changes your life in such a positive way that it’s hard to imagine your life without them. The song came together pretty naturally and I we all knew we had some great when it was finished.
What are you hoping the fans take from the track?
I hope that they can relate to the positive message of the song. For me it’s about celebrating the fact that at any point you could meet someone who has such an impact on you that they inspire you to be the best version of yourself and I think that’s a beautiful thing.
How do you feel your style fits into the current Country Market?
I would say my style fits in pretty well with the current male pop country market but I think there’s a distinct “edge” to my music that you don’t hear with some of the other artists. While I do love to listen to a lot of country music, I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock, especially 90’s alternative rock (Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20, etc) and I think that influence comes across in the music. I’m proud of the fact that I don’t really create music with a specific genre in mind and I think my music showcases a blend of all different styles. At the end of the day however, I do feel like my music fits best in the modern country music market.
Can we expect a full length album from you this year?
I released a 5 song EP in May of last year so I think this year I’m just looking to release about three singles. The follow up song to “Before You” is called “Like I wanna be” and it’s likely to be released this May or June.
Do you have any touring plans lined up?
Yes! I actually just released a bunch of new tour dates in support of the new single and I’ll be playing all along the east coast as well as the Carolina’s and a few states around TN.
