The Harry Potter universe has seen a number of faces take on some of the most memorable roles in history. However, there are a few celebrities who didn't quite make it, despite them going on to achieve great things in Hollywood.
One notable actor who has won an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role was turned down to play Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets. You've guessed it - it's Eddie Redmayne.
Known for his roles in The Theory of Everything and Les Miserables, Eddie auditioned to play the younger version of Lord Voldemort for the second film in the franchise.

Speaking to Marie Claire, Redmayne recalled: "I actually auditioned to play Tom Riddle while I was at university. I properly failed and didn't get a callback."
The role instead went to Christian Coulson. Despite this setback, Eddie eventually went on to appear in the world of Harry Potter when he landed the lead role in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016).
Cast as Hufflepuff Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter prequel, the film series is directed by David Yates and is based on the eponymous book by J. K. Rowling.
Eddie, 40, has enjoyed a very successful acting career and has been nominated for various awards, including two consecutive nominations for Best Actor at the Academy Awards in 2014 and 2015.
He won an Oscar for his role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything (2014) and was later awarded an OBE for his services to drama in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2015.
